Founded in May 2023, Category 1 Music isn’t exactly the “new kid on the block.” It’s both a record label and a music publishing company with more than 40 years of history in the music industry creating house-music classics. At Category 1 Music there’s a renewed emphasis on soulful vocal house productions by the genre’s most talented artists, producers and remixers.

The label’s initial releases were “Won’t Give Up” by George “G-Spot” Jackson & Ed Ramsey and “Magic Carpet Ride” by Aires Adora — both top-20 hits on Music Week’s Upfront Club Chart. Both feature remixes by Eric Kupper, and they were followed by Ron Carroll & Dr Packer’s inspirational “A New Day”. These productions showcase the highest level of vocal artistry, creative talent and remixing skill — and in the years to come we’ll keep adding releases that emphasize the artistry and production magic of house music’s most renowned DJs and recording artists.

Alongside Category 1 Music’s soulful house releases, affiliate label Category 1 Trax focuses on Afro house and Afro, Latin and Brazilian rhythm–inspired tracks from multi-talented DJs including DJ Sneak and the Latin/Miami flavors of That Kid Chris. Our labels keep collaborating with well-known talents like Eric Kupper, Dr Packer and Ron Carroll, as well as renowned producers and remixers such as Michael Gray and Richard Earnshaw — teamed up with iconic artists such as Terry Dexter & Shawn Christopher. And we’re always searching for house music’s next generation of rising stars.
